The original Dive! was an anagram game programmed by my wife for the Big Sea Games (BSG) social game portal. Players are given seven letters, and they have two minutes to make as many words as possible out of those letters. Players would earn tokens for BSG for each word.
She was busy working on another game when the time came for a sequel, so I took over the development of the sequel. Dive Deeper! is also an anagram game, but it had new features more suited to a contemporary social gaming.
The first new feature was depth. The game was presented with a first-person view. As one played puzzles, the view outside the cockpit would become darker as the submersible went deeper into the ocean. Random fish would swim around during levels, and those fish would be determined by the current depth, so we also added the ability to move the submersible up or down in between puzzles. Players could catch fish by finding lots of words.
Depth and fish were important parts for the second new feature. By catching fish, players could collect certain sets of fish, then trade those fish for BSG tokens.
Unfortunately, Dive Deeper! is no longer playable since BSG is offline.
